Mount Angel Seminary Breeds Alaskan Priests

By Father Scott Joseph Garrett
Pastor of Holy Rosary Mission

The Archdiocese of Anchorage recently hosted the 2011 convocation. All Alaskan Priests from our three dioceses, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau, were in attendance. Speakers from the USCCB presented training on the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal.

Several Mount Angel alumni were in attendance. These former Mount Angel Seminarians are now active diocesan priests in Alaska.

This is seminarian Patrick Brosamer, currently on pastoral year from Mount Angel Seminary. He is serving at Saint Anthony in Anchorage for about four more months. He will then return to Mount Angel in Oregon to complete the last two years of his seminary training. He will be ordained for the Archdiocese of Anchorage. He arrives at the convocation just a tad bit late. Believe me, we won't hold it against you Patrick!

Fr. Steve Moore, Archdiocese of Anchorage, Alaska, Saint Benedict, Anchorage, Alaska.

Father Sean Thompson from the Diocese of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Father Robert Fath, Diocese of Fairbanks, North Pole, Alaska.

Father Scott Medlock, Archdiocese of Anchorage, Saint Patricks, Anchorage, Alaska. Otherwise known as the married Scott, or Scott the greater.

Father Ross Tozzi, for the Diocese of Fairbanks, is currently serving in Nome, Alaska. There is "No Place like Nome."

Father Tom Lilly, Pastor of Saint Elizabeth Anne Seaton, Anchorage, Alaska. Tom and I were ordained together on March 24, 2003.

Father Thomas Weise is currently a pastor in Ketchikan, Alaska for the Diocese of Juneau.

Father Scott Garrett, Holy Rosary Mission, Dillingham, Alaska, Archdiocese of Anchorage.

Father Scott Setelmo, Diocese of Juneau.

Children from SEAS in Anchgorage sing for our Mass on Wednesday Morning at the Fairfield Hotel banquet room. Two Mount Angel Alumi, Fr. Scott Medlock and Father Sean Thompson, join in the singing.

See you all next year!

I came across your blog as I was scrounging for pictures for the St Francis of Assisi Awards Banquet PowerPoint. I always try to get pictures from the parishs that are not in "driving" distance of Anchorage.
I am a parishioner at SEAS and we have been blessed with two wonderful priests from Mount Angel Seminary, Fr. Scott (the greater)and Fr. Tom.
God Bless and fly safe, Carin

Carin, glad you like the pictures. Yes, we are fortunate to have Fr. Scott (the greater) and Fr. Tom as Diocesan priests for Anchorage. We are definately not driving distance from Anchorage. Fr. Scott
